Abstract

The condensation of either acetophenone or substituted acetophenone with 1-naphthaldehyde in simple basic solutions such as NaOH, a significant number of phenyl and napthyl substituted chalcones have been synthesized. These substituted chalcones were reacted with hydrazine hydrate in the presence of pure sulphuric acid in obtaining linked to substituted pyrazoline derivatives. Compounds synthesized are distinguished by their chemical and spectroscopic properties. Synthesized compounds have been investigated against various bacterial species, such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Salmonella typhi, for antibacterial activity. It has been shown that substituted pyrazoline rings make a significant contribution to antibacterial action.
