Abstract

A compact patch antenna is proposed and simulated in this paper. The proposed antenna comprises of a rectangular patch section with cut off from top corners, slot on the patch and a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed line for excitation to achieve wideband frequency range. The performance of the compact coplanar antenna under different bending conditions is described in this paper. The proposed antennas are simulated using CST microwave studio and designed on a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) substrate with dielectric constant □r= 3 and thickness 1 mm occupying an area of 26×40 mm2. The proposed antennas are suitable for wireless communication applications requiring a small antenna such as WLAN and WiMAX.
