Abstract

A novel aperture stacked patch (ASP) antenna with circular polarization is proposed. The antenna consists of four parasitic patches, each one being rotated by an angle of 30° relative to its adjacent patches. The proposed antenna has achieved a simultaneous axial ratio <;3 dB and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) <;2 bandwidth of 33.6% (7.2-10.11 GHz) in the single element and 36.15% (7.1-10.2 GHz) in a 2 × 1-element array configuration. The antenna behavior is explained by a thorough parameter study together with fabrication and measurement.
