Abstract
A short overview on the rationale for organizing this session is provided. The state of the art of dosimetry is briefly summarized and predictions as to what will be needed in the future are made. The use of dosimetry for assessing nonoccupational noise exposure is discussed. A summary of what current noise dosimetry can and cannot accomplish is made.
