Abstract

On the basis of information obtained from administrators of schools and colleges of optometry, directors of graduate programs in physiological optics and vision science, directors of optometric residency programs, and other sources, it was concluded that: (1) during the next decade the supply of optometric educators will be sufficient to meet the anticipated demand with the exception of the O.D.-Ph.D. category and (2) this potential shortage can be alleviated if graduate programs in schools and colleges of optometry emphasize a research-based, clinically oriented, M.S. program
