Abstract
Io has gotten a makeover, according to the latest photos returned from NASA's Galileo spacecraft. In just 17 years since the twin Voyager spacecraft flew by Jupiter's innermost moon, Io's blotchy orange and white complexion has changed significantly.“The changes we are seeing on Io are dramatic,” said Michael Belton, project scientist for the camera on Galileo. “The colors of material on the ground and their distribution have changed substantially since the Voyager flybysof 1979.”
