Abstract
The mean and range values for leukocyte content in unmodified red blood cell and platelet components, as well as their leukocyte-reduced counterparts, have been included in multiple published reports. We compiled these data to facilitate comparisons between components and preparations, and to allow predictions of which methods of leukodepletion are likely to be efficacious for preventing leukocyte-mediated transfusion complications as the threshold values become better defined.
