Abstract

The future of the Poultry Science Association is quite dependent upon three factors: continuation of the poultry industry, the training of poultry men to renew its ranks, and the recognition of the poultry profession by society. Hazards faced by industry include low market prices and reduced demands brought about in part by the unsubstantiated cholesterol scare. New techniques may, in part, prevent the industry’s demise. Industry will need to make their needs known concerning the training of personnel to conduct their operations and to continue essential research and educational programs. The status of poultry science could be greatly enhanced by better informing society and the scientific community of the very significant accomplishments of its scientists. Greater cooperation with other societies will be needed to promote all of agriculture.
