What motivates consumers to be in line with online shopping?: a systematic literature review and discussion of future research perspectives

This chapter provides guidelines for systematic literature review (SLR) in the supply chain management (SCM) field. By mapping a transparent SLR process that can easily be replicated in practice, the chapter aims to support students and scholars who are planning to conduct their literature review in SCM topics in addition to enhancing their awareness about the importance and contribution of SLR in SCM. Several issues were identified including SCM researchers' challenges when conducting SLR, its limited contribution especially in highest-ranked journals, the use of SLR tactics from other fields without fully taking SCM characteristics into account and the use of different SLR models. Recognising the increasing complexity and dynamics of SCM, there are calls for SCM research to employ more rigour, transparent and replicable SLR processes that are particularly designed for the nature of SCM. Despite different perspectives, researchers reconciled that three main stages or steps involved in the SLR are (1) Planning the review (2) Conducting the review and (3) Reporting the results (aligned with Tranfield, Denyer and Smart, 2003). This chapter has adapted these SLR guidelines to SCM characteristics, illustrating the process with an example from Supply Chain 4.0 (SC 4.0) research.

Context: Systematic mapping reviews are now common in software engineering. However, if there are rigorous guidelines for systematic literature reviews in software engineering, the same is not true for mapping reviews. Objective: Develop a set of rigorous guidelines for mapping reviews. Method: The guidelines were based on some orientations for mapping reviews, mapping studies and on adaptations from existent guidelines for systematic literature reviews. Results: A set of guidelines, presented as a method, consisting of six stages. Conclusion: The guidelines form a well structured method for mapping reviews with the potential to attain high-quality reviews.

The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans (Guidelines) advises older adults to be as active as possible. Yet, despite the well documented benefits of physical activity just 12.8% of those ages 65 and older meet the Guidelines. To address this, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) developed a Midcourse Report focused on effective strategies to improve older adult physical activity behaviors. The first step in this process was a systematic literature review. A literature review team was contracted to examine the evidence on key settings and effective behavioral intervention strategies, as well as effective policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) approaches, to improve physical activity among older adults. The PSE search employed an equity-centered framework adapted to researching PSE approaches for improving physical activity outcomes in older adults. Sixteen thousand eight hundred and eighty-three titles and abstracts were screened, and 734 full articles were reviewed for inclusion. Of those, 64 original research articles were included for the final review to answer two questions, one (plus 5 sub-questions) focused on Settings/Strategies literature (45 studies) and one (plus 2 sub-questions) focused on PSE literature (19 studies). The literature review process identified key settings and evidence-based strategies to support older adults in becoming more physically active, and provides a foundation for the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Midcourse Report: Implementation Strategies for Older Adults. More research is needed to address how factors related to equity and psychosocial constructs influence physical activity behaviors among older adults.

Cross-docking is a supply chain distribution and logistics strategy for which less-than-truckload shipments are consolidated into full-truckload shipments. Goods are stored up to a maximum of 24 hours in a cross-docking terminal. In this chapter, we build on the literature review by Ladier and Alpan (2016), who reviewed cross-docking research and conducted interviews with cross-docking managers to find research gaps and provide recommendations for future research. We conduct a systematic literature review, following the framework by Ladier and Alpan (2016), on cross-docking literature from 2015 up to 2020. We focus on papers that consider the intersection of research and industry, e.g., case studies or studies presenting real-world data. We investigate whether the research has changed according to the recommendations of Ladier and Alpan (2016). Additionally, we examine the adoption of Industry 4.0 practices in cross-docking research, e.g., related to features of the physical internet, the Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems in cross-docking methodologies or case studies. We conclude that only small adaptations have been done based on the recommendations of Ladier and Alpan (2016), but we see growing attention for Industry 4.0 concepts in cross-docking, especially for physical internet hubs.

Processes, challenges and recommendations of Gray Literature Review: An experience report

The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the education field across the globe. This transformation has made education more accessible through the emergence of online distance learning. Therefore, this systematic literature review presents an extensive review and analysis of existing studies on online distance learning in the English as a Second Language context. The study’s main aim is to explore the effectiveness of online distance learning in the English as a Second Language context. The significance of the study lies in its potential to inform educational stakeholders about the advantages and areas for improvement in online distance learning for learners and teachers, thus enhancing educational practices and policies. The primary research question guiding this review is: What are the experiences and perceptions of teachers and students regarding online distance learning in the English as a Second Language context? The study follows the PRISMA 2020 statement guidelines for systematic literature reviews, investigating peer-reviewed articles from the SCOPUS and ERIC databases (2019 – 2023). Seventeen (17) studies were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings indicate growing research interest in online distance learning in the English as a Second Language context. Most of the studies employed qualitative design in which university students mainly were used as participants. The findings also provide invaluable insights regarding the benefits enjoyed by both students and teachers from online distance learning. Key benefits derived from students’ perceptions are comfort, enjoyable, time-saving, autonomous learning, improved communication, and collaborative skills. Teachers, on the other hand, stated that the benefits they enjoyed through online distance learning were time savings, a positive learning environment, improved teaching efficiency, money savings, and enhanced students’ psychological factors. To summarise, these findings suggest that stakeholders should take the appropriate measures to effectively implement online distance learning and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable education for all.

Data preprocessing remains an important step in machine learning studies. This is because proper preprocessing of imbalanced data can enable researchers to reduce defects as much as possible, which, in turn, may lead to the elimination of defects in existing data sets. Despite the remarkable achievements that have been accomplished in machine learning studies, systematic literature reviews of imbalanced data preprocessing techniques are lacking. Consequently, there are a limited number of systematic literature review studies on imbalanced data preprocessing. In this study, the authors assess the existing literature to identify the key issues related to data quality and handling and to provide a convenient collection of the techniques used to address these issues when performing data preprocessing. They applied a systematic literature review method involving a manual search to select articles published from January 2010 to September 2018 for review. The qualities of the existing studies were assessed using certain quality assessment criteria. Of the 118 relevant studies found, only 2% were identified as having been conducted following systematic literature review guidelines. This study, therefore, calls for more systematic literature review studies on data preprocessing to improve the quality of the data applied in machine learning studies.

Pap, Mammography, and Clinical Breast Examination Screening Among Women with Disabilities: A Systematic Review

This study aims to identify and present the relevant studies employing DEA applications in bank efficiency evaluation in six Western Balkan (WB) countries as follows: North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H). This article implements an extensive systematic literature review of studies that employ the DEA methodology in the efficiency evaluation of Western Balkan countries’ banking systems. The conducted literature review has surveyed the Scopus, Web of Science (SSCI and SCI papers) and Google Scholar databases with „Data Envelopment Analysis“, „Western Balkan“ (and each of the WB countries as keywords) and „Bank“ as keywords for the search following the PRISMA guidelines for systematic literature review. Thereafter, a manual survey of these studies was conducted, which eventually resulted in 31 papers regarding the efficiency of WB countries’ banking systems. This study provides an in-depth literature review on bank efficiency studies with DEA in each of the analysed Western Balkan countries (eight in Serbia, six in North Macedonia, none in Montenegro, three in Albania, three in Kosovo, five in Bosnia and Herzegovina and six cross-country studies that include any of these Western Balkan countries), as well as a presentation of their used models, the selected variables and their findings. The findings reveal that, in most cases, the large banks in WB are most efficient and the small-sized banks are the least efficient. This literature review indicates that the surveyed studies have been published in the period between 2008 and 2022. The findings primarily show the applicability of DEA in the bank efficiency literature

Introduction. This research aimed to understand efforts should be taken so that the authenticity of electronic records can be maintained in the digital environment. Data Collection Method. This research used a systematic literature review published by scientific journals from January 2010 to April 2019 derived from electronic information sources subscribed by the University of Indonesia Library. The results of this review are reported using guidelines for Systematic Literature Review (SLR) which has three stages, namely planning, implementation, and reporting.Analysis Data. Descriptive quantitative was employed to analyze the data by using simple statistic application (Microsoft Office Excel 2007). Results and Discussion. The results indicated that there are 18 literatures (3%) of the total search results of 561 relevant literatures discussing electronic records and ways to maintain their authenticity in digital era. There were 12 articles providing sufficient information about this matter.Conclusion. The majority of the articles mentioned that to maintain the authenticity of electronic archives in digital era must be supported by policy makers such as the government. In addition, the knowledge and skills of archival managers, as well as appropriate technology are also needed.

Systematic literature reviews are conducted to “identify, analyse and interpret all available evidence related to a specific research question” [96]. As it aims to give a complete, comprehensive and valid picture of the existing evidence, both the identification, analysis and interpretation must be conducted in a scientifically and rigorous way. In order to achieve this goal, Kitchenham and Charters have adapted guidelines for systematic literature reviews, primarily from medicine, evaluated them [24] and updated them accordingly [96]. These guidelines, structured according to a three-step process for planning, conducting and reporting the review, are summarized below.

Career guidance plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational and vocational trajectories of senior high school students in Indonesia. This systematic literature review aims to analyze the current state of career guidance in Indonesian senior high schools, focusing on guidance models, implementation challenges, and best practices. The review followed the PRISMA guidelines for systematic literature reviews. Relevant studies published between 2020–2024 were identified through electronic databases such as Sinta and Google Scholar. Inclusion criteria encompassed peer-reviewed journal articles, reports, and policy papers focused on career guidance in Indonesian senior high schools. A total of 10 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The findings indicate that while career guidance policies exist, implementation varies significantly across schools, particularly between urban and rural areas. Major challenges include a shortage of trained counselors, inadequate resources, and lack of standardized career education. Influential factors in students’ career choices include socio-economic status, cultural norms, parental involvement, and access to career information. The review highlights emerging digital platforms as promising tools to expand access to career services. Models such as developmental guidance and person-environment fit were commonly referenced. From the findings we can conclude that there is an urgent need to strengthen career guidance services in Indonesian high schools through comprehensive counselor training, improved intersectoral collaboration, curriculum integration, and policy refinement.

Foot-drop is one of the most diagnosed and physically limiting symptoms persons with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) experience. Clinicians prescribe ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) and functional electrical stimulation (FES) devices to help alleviate the effects of foot drop, but it is unclear how their clinical and functional gait improvements compare given the user's level of disability, type of multiple sclerosis, walking environment, or desired physical activity. The research questions explored were what is the current state of AFO and FES research for pwMS? What are the prevailing research trends? What definitive clinical and functional device comparisons exist for pwMS? eight databases were systematically searched for relevant literature published between 2009 and 2021. The American Association of Orthotists and Prosthetists and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines for systematic literature reviews were followed. A team of 3 researchers critically evaluated 17 articles that passed eligibility criteria. This review discusses the current state and trends of research, provides evidence statements on device effects, and recommends improvements for future studies. A meta-analysis would be informative, but study variability across the literature makes directly comparing AFO and FES device effects unreliable. This review contributes new and useful information to multiple sclerosis literature that can be used by both clinicians and researchers. Clinicians can use the provided insights to prescribe more effective, customized treatments, and other researchers can use them to evaluate and design future studies.

Current state of research on cross-site scripting (XSS) – A systematic literature review

This research offers an extensive review and analysis of the use of authentic assessment in K-12 ESL/EFL education. The study follows the PRISMA 2020 statement guidelines for systematic literature reviews, investigating peer-reviewed articles from the SCOPUS, WOS, and ERIC databases (2013-2022). The samples comprised teachers, students, and K-12 education documents; non-eligible criteria were excluded. Out of numerous potential studies, 19 were deemed fitting for the review. The findings indicate growing research interest in authentic assessment, with one publication per year minimum since 2015, and notable contributions from Indonesia. Most of the studies (74%) adopted qualitative designs and utilized different authentic assessment types, such as role play, oral interviews, projects, and portfolios. Key factors affecting the implementation included teacher attributes (assessment literacy, language proficiency, support, time), student attributes (motivation, reflection, time, ability), resources (assessment tools, textbooks, guidebooks, teaching aids), and environmental aspects (class size). The review provides valuable insights for teachers aiming to apply suitable authentic assessment strategies and underlines the importance of considering these factors in lesson planning. It emphasizes the need for more research on teachers' assessment literacy and their experiences in employing authentic assessment in K-12 ESL/EFL education, which is currently an underexplored area.
