Abstract

Weights and outer volumes of cylindrical and spherical thick-walled pressure vessels which contain a given amount of gas are considered. Decrease of vessel weight demands an increase in inner diameter. The outer diameter of pressure vessels can be minimized when the internal pressure obtains an optimal value.
