Abstract

A method is described which aids in the selection of the more effective weapon system within some physical limitations in a future time period. An example of a Naval Air Attack System is given. After the system and its functions are defined, the performance of the men and equipment in the system is related to the accomplishment of the system's missions. The role of human performance in system effectiveness is given special mention in this presentation. The conditions bounding the selection of the more effective system are then developed. A treatment of the measures of system accomplishment and bounding conditions to yield unique answers is proposed. Several examples of possible uses of the method to evaluate component changes are given.
