Abstract
Summary The article demonstrates the main ways of translating the author’s neologisms of Russian poets into German, which include: transcription, loan translation, descriptive translation, contextual translation and omission of occasionalisms in translation. The relevance of the work is determined by the uniqueness of such a linguistic phenomenon as word creation. Occasional formations help to reveal the language potential, including the inventory of word-building models, thus providing the infinity of the dictionary. The study of author’s new formations in a comparative aspect shows the ways of creative implementation of the decision of the translator, who is faced with contradictions between the possibility and its implementation, between the system and the norm. The scientific novelty of this work lies in the linguistic analysis of little-studied material (German translation of Russian poetry).
