Abstract

When the area served by the Sturgeon Point Water Treatment Plant required more water, improvements had to be made. But these improvements had to be in compliance with the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 and with regulations of the New York State Dept. of Health. Determining wastewater characteristics and constructing and evaluating primary concentration facilities were the first steps in achieving a “zero discharge” of wastewater to Lake Erie. Part 2 of this report will appear next month.
