Abstract

ABSTRACT EVAPOTRANSPIRATION (ET) studies on St. Augustine [Stenotaphrum secundatum (Walt.) Kuntze] pasture in relation to yield and water-to-yield ratio were conducted on organic soil with 20-cm and 40-cm water tables in 12 lysimeters. ET and water-to-yield ratios were inversely related to water-table depth. The mean daily ET varied from 2.0 to 6.3 mm/day, and 860 to 940 kg of water were required to produce 1 kg of dry biomass. The ratio between ET and standard pan evaporation varied from 0.73 to 0.91. The pasture grew equally well with 20-cm and 40-cm water tables.
