Abstract
In this research, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Glowworm Swarm Optimisation (GSO) are applied in order to optimise the warpage value of an upper case of a wireless optical mouse with thickness above 2mm. The material of the part is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) with trade name Toyolac 700-314. The parameter used in this research are melt temperature, mould temperature, cooling time and packing time. However, mould temperature is the most significant factor that contributes to warpage in this research. From simulation, the warpage value is 0.4295mm. Then, the warpage value is optimised by 3.91% to 0.412728mm by using RSM. Next, the warpage is also optimised to 0.3347967mm by using GSO, which is 22.05% optimised. This can be conclude that GSO is a better optimisation approach than RSM.
