Abstract

The large magnetovolume effects and Invar-like behavior observed in the novel R3(FeTi)29 (R = Pr, Nd, Gd and Tb) intermetallic compounds are reviewed. A large decrease in the Curie temperature TC under pressure was found to be inversely proportional to the TC value. We also report compressibility measurements performed on Nd3(FeTi)29 within a wide temperature range (100–550 K). These allowed us to determine the influence of the volume changes on TC and on the spin reorientation temperature Tsr.
