Abstract

1. 1. Pigeons were trained to discriminate between various combinations of horizontal, vertical and oblique rectangles. 2. 2. The results indicate that the pigeon, like the cat but unlike several other species, readily discriminates between rectangles oriented in different directions, has no difficulty with discriminations involving obliques and shows immediate transfer from simultaneous to successive discrimination situations.
