Abstract

The paper analyzes the theme of the 'end of the world' and of the 'human crisis' in the Anthropocene by comparing Ernesto De Martino's study of cultural apocalypses and the crisis of modern and contemporary Western civilization with the negative eschatology of Gunther Anders and with the dystopian narration of Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
