Abstract

Objective To examine the efficacy of visoelastic needle circular continuous capsulorrhex-is facilitated with irrigation in white cataract without the use of capsular dyes. Methods Thirty-eight eyes of 37 patients with white cataract were retrospectively reviewed. After slightly overfilling the anterior chamber with viscoelastic, needle circular continuous capsulorrhexis was performed with simultaneous irrigation through the needle to dilute the cloudy liquefied cortex and move the capsular flap and help to visualize the edge of the cap-sulorrhexis.Results CCC was successfully accomplished in 36 eyes, failed in one eye due to the gushing out of liquefied cortex in the progress of CCC.In another case, capsulorrhexis was made too large during the sec-ond ring and strayed to the periphery. Conclusions The findings of this study suggested that without capsular dyes, simultaneous irrigation was helpful in visualizing the anterior capsule during viscoelastic needle CCC in white cataract.
