Abstract
The article argues that in Vienna around 1900 Jewish newspapers served as a supplement to general media. Although the Jewish press claimed in its programmatic outlines that it covered all the news that helps to promote Jewish life and further Jewish interests in the Habsburg capital, it pragmatically refrained from reporting on incidents the non-Jewish media wrote about. This was due, as I contend, that even orthodox Viennese Jews read non-Jewish newspapers. Three different sources confirming this assertion are provided. This indicates, as I claim, a close Jewish and non-Jewish interconnectedness.
