Abstract

Photoionization of diatomic molecules is investigated with fully taking into account their vibrational and rotational motions. Formulas for total intensity and angular distribution of photoelectrons are obtained for any transition between individual vib-rotational states of the molecule and ion. Some characteristic features of the resulting photoionization cross section are derived. In particular, γ—γ transitions are discussed in detail.
