Abstract
The distribution of food in outside workers ofFormica polyctena is determined by begging time and not by the sequence in which the ants are fed. Larger ants are given no preference in feeding. In thirsty condition ants take in, besides normal water, also the soil capillary water. It will be faster conducted to the middle gut than honey solution.
