Abstract
A study was performed to investigate the conditionability of chronic schizophrenics and their differential responsiveness to verbal reward and punishment in a Taffel-type task. The effect of social responsiveness, as measured by a rating-scale device, was also assessed. Results indicated that those Ss remaining responsive to the social environment condition well under verbal reward. Variables inherent in the situation or E were related in a complex way to the results, yielding a peculiar pattern in which pronouns, jointly reinforced, in several instances conditioned separately.
