Abstract

A variational formulation of nuclear fluid dynamics is presented, which is valid both for zero and for finite temperatures. The equations for small-amplitude oscillations around a stationary state are derived. As an example of the variational approach, a fluid-dynamical calculation which avoids the so-called scaling approximation but takes into account distortions of the Fermi surface is briefly discussed.
