Abstract

Summary This paper considers different aspects of variation and discusses two strategies for reducing variation caused by an identified source. The strategies involve controlling the source of the variation, or finding a special type of interaction between the source and a process control factor. The latter approach is further explained by examples using either traditional designed experiments or the product arrays proposed by Taguchi.
