Abstract
We present the results of the spectral analysis of the host galaxies of gamma‐ray bursts (GRB) 031203 and 990712 observed up to ∼1.5 and ∼6 years after their original outburst, respectively. We compare the emission line fluxes with that of the previous observations of the same GRBs, in search for photoionization signatures. The energy output in the GRB prompt emission and afterglow phase is expected to photoionize the surrounding medium similar to the case observed in supernovae. Investigating the variability of the emission line fluxes helps to constrain the recombination time scales and gas density of the circumburst environment. We further discuss the implications of variable line fluxes on the host galaxy parameters infered using emission lines, i.e. star‐formation rate (SFR), metallicity etc.
