Abstract

Value of the Hybrid Operating Theater for an Integrated Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment of Pulmonary Nodules in 2019.

Highlights

  • With wide dissemination of computed tomography (CT) geographically and across disciplines, pulmonary nodules are being diagnosed much more commonly

  • Less invasive alternatives are available for the diagnosis or treatment of pulmonary nodules, such as percutaneous needle biopsy, navigational bronchoscopy, ablation and radiation therapies

  • Indications for surgical resection include growing lesions, certain radiographic features that are consistent with malignancy, and lesions in populations at high risk due to age, smoking status or history of exposure to other carcinogenic substances
