Abstract

Information about the conditions of some products is very important for determining the suitable moment for harvesting. In addition, the increasing market requirements of quality and yield need a further valuation of these products for classifying and price fixing. Other performances concerning uniformity and aspect may also be taken into account. We show different measurement principles for the most important parameters, describing the following sensory systems that we have used: continuous hygrometer for rice, corn and cereals, by capacitive methods; fat and acidity meter for live and oleaginous products, by densimetry; sugar content meter for grape and citrus fruits, by refractometry.
