Abstract

FRANKENBURG, WILLIAM K.; CAMP, BONNIE W.; and VAN NATTA, PEARL A. Validity of the Denver Developmental Screening Test. CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 1971, 42, 475-485. In view of the widespread use of the Denver Developmental Screening Test (DDST) for screening the development of preschool aged children, a study was undertaken to evaluate the validity of the DDST. 236 subjects were evaluated with the DDST and the following criterion tests: Stanford-Binet, Revised Yale Developmental Schedule, Cattell, and the Revised Bayley Infant Scale. Correlations of mental ages obtained with the DDST and the criterion tests varied between .86 and .97. Scoring the DDS T as normal, questionable, and abnormal agreed very highly with IQs or DQs obtained on the criterion tests.
