Abstract

A new developed transonic flow code named ATTF (Analysis Toolkits for Transonic Flows) is validated in this report. Multigrid technique is coded in ATTF to accelerate the convergence to steady state. To reduce the difficulties of generating grid and enable the numerical simulations for complex configurations, ATTF uses the strategy of structured multi-block grid and the adjacent blocks are connected in one-to-one patched manner. The code utilizes the technique of dynamic memory management to optimize the limit memory space for a single computer, and a flexible data structure which describes all boundary conditions and the block connecting information is used to handle different complex grid topologies, and the same executable file compiled from ATTF can be used to run different flow simulations as long as the necessary control information is inputted correctly. Two transonic flow cases were used to validate the capability of ATTF: DLR-F4 wing/body configuration and NASA CRM (Common Research Model) wing/body/tail configuration. The computation results are in good agreement with the experimental data or the computational results from other researchers, and our code is feasible.
