Abstract
A new self-consistent field method is applied to the calculation of the Knight shift of a positive muon at an interstitial site in sodium. The paramagnetic and diamagnetic contributions are evaluated from the self-consistent field wavefunction, and the resulting Knight shift is 82 p.p.m., in excellent agreement with the experimental value of 76.5 p.p.m.
