Abstract

This qualitative study explores the birth narratives of Black women who had a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Online reproduction-related communities have become a common place of sharing childbirth information; this is important for Black women considering VBACs, as they have reported misinformation and a lack of information by care providers during their prior cesarean deliveries. This study explores the narratives women have posted about their VBAC and prior cesarean experiences in one such online community. Through informed choice, Black women are empowered to make decisions about their mode of birth and then share their stories of successful births with other Black women seeking information and encouragement.
