Abstract

Nanoparticles of spinel Fe1.95Mn0.05NiO4 have been fabricated by sol–gel method. The spinel structure has been characterized by differential thermal analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The nanoparticles showed the excellent adsorption properties towards reactive black 5 as a reactive dye. The adsorption studies have been carried out at different pH values, various temperatures, and adsorbent doses. It was found that the removal process follows the second-order kinetics and the Freundlich adsorption isotherm.
