Abstract

Uterine osteosarcomas are very rare and aggressive neoplasms. We present here a case of primary osteosarcoma of the uterus with peritoneal, omental and mesenteric metastasis. Treatment consisted of total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy followed by chemotherapy. However, she succumbed to her illness after 4 months of the surgery. Treatment options of this rare entity are unclear, and the prognosis is dismal. This case report is being presented to highlight the importance and rarity of primary uterine osteosarcoma and the need to differentiate it from the more common differentials, i.e. malignant mixed Mullerian tumour and uterine leiomyosarcoma.
