Abstract

Today, clinicians rely on medical images for screening, diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-ups. While medical images provide a wealth of information for clinicians, the content information cannot automatically be integrated into advanced medical applications, such as Clinical Decision Support. The implementation of advanced medical applications requires to enhance image metadata by formalized practical clinical knowledge sources. We introduce an application for the staging of lymphoma patients by means of automatic reasoning and integration of patients' image metadata, medical ontologies and the formalized Ann-Arbor Staging System.
