Abstract

At the conclusion of the Workshop, participants will be able to: 1) recognize the legacies of structural racism entrenched with traditionally Western biomedical research paradigms that continue to actualize in contemporary research practices; 2) identify the basic principles and examples of how community-based participatory research (CBPR) can be utilized to address structural racism in research practices; 3) select a CBPR principle to apply to an ongoing or developing research project that fosters empowerment and partnership with community organizations; and 4) develop an implementation plan for an ongoing or developing research project that includes a CBPR approach.
