Abstract

In this paper, we study the problem of user pairing algorithms for uplink virtual multiple-input multiple-output (V-MIMO) networks, with Quality of Service (QoS) considered. After analyzing the uplink virtual multiple-input multiple-output (V-MIMO) networks transmission model and delay model, we propose a balanced QoS and proportional fair (B-QPF) algorithm of user pairing, which selects users depending on proportional fair (PF) criterion and the instantaneous QoS status information, for the uplink V-MIMO systems. Moreover, we prove that the B-QPF algorithm has the maximum stability region (MSR) so that the system can support more user types. The simulation results of our algorithm show its robust performance in delay-sensitive environment. Despite sacrifice of some fairness, the B-QPF scheme gains better support for QoS and remains high throughput compared with other popular algorithms.
