Abstract

Abstract We applied kymo-two-dimensional (kymo-2-D) echoaortocardiography, which is capable of combining the structure motion and cardiac anatomy in a single picture, to examine two cases of aortic root dissection of DeBakey types I and II and a rare case of mycotic aneurysm of the aortic root. In aortic root dissection, the spread and course of false lumina were clearly visualized. In the case with two mycotic aneurysms of the aortic root, the anterior aneurysm into the interventricular septum was visualized as an echo-free area with an exaggerated motion of the left side of the interventricular septum. Thus kymo-2-D echoaortocardiography proved useful in diagnosing diseases involving the aortic root.
