Abstract

In an uncertain environment or a catastrophic situation, locating a nearby emergency facility is very essential to save human lives. One complication is that the disaster may itself significantly alter the geographic distribution of available resources. The aim of this research is to automate the process of locating the closest emergency facility based on the level of person's injury. In this paper, we present data structures that are automatically derived from GIS shapefiles for analysis using Matlab. The data structures emphasize the computational geometric-aspect. In particular, geometric distance and graphic theoretic distance Voronoi diagrams are computed. Further statistical analysis is included.
