Abstract

The article presents and analyzes the results of a survey regarding the use of financial futures by life insurers. A questionnaire was mailed to 390 U.S. life insurers, with 118 completed questionnaires being returned for a response rate of 30.2 percent. Comparison of users and nonusers of financial futures clearly suggests tile existence of scale economies for the use of Futures. In addition, statistically significant differences were found between the perceptions of users and nonusers.
