Abstract

Abstract Potatoes were planted on 16 March at the Eastern Shore Agricultural Research and Extension Center, Painter, VA. Each plot consisted of two 25ft long rows on 3ft row spacing, bordered on each side by an untreated guard row. Treatments were replicated 4 times in a RCB design. Treatments were applied on 18, 24 May and 1 June using a three hollow cone nozzle boom backpack sprayer delivering 60 gal water at 40 psi. Insect counts and defoliation ratings were taken on the dates indicated in the table. CPB small and large larvae were sampled on 10 randomly chosen stems/plot and PLH nymphs and aphids were sampled on 10 randomly picked compound leaves/plot. Both rows of each plot were harvested and graded on 28 June to determine yields.
