Abstract
Simple running sutures offer ease of placement, speed of closure, and the ability to approximate the dermis and epidermis.1,2 A potential disadvantage includes uneven suture tension along the wound, which leads to poor wound edge apposition in greater tension areas or puckering in lesser tension areas.2 Because of the eminent prevalence of this skin closure technique in dermatologic surgery, any effort to add finesse while decreasing possible disadvantages is essential.
