Abstract A description is provided for Urocystis paridis , which causes smut in the leaves and stems of Paris . Some information on its dispersal and transmission and conservation status is given, along with details of its geographical distribution (China, Georgia, Japan, Russia (Kabardino-Balkar Republic, Krasnoyar krai, Primorskyi krai), Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Russia (Smolensk oblast), Sweden and Switzerland) and hosts ( Paris quadrifolia, Paris tetraphylla, Paris verticillata ( Paris hexaphylla )).
