L'A. presente la controverse qui a divise la Southern Baptist Convention (Etats-Unis) de 1979 a 1990 en deux groupes, les fondamentalistes ou conservateurs d'un cote et les modere de l'autre, concernant l'infaillibilite et l'autorite de la Bible. S'agissait-il d'une croisade pour la verite ou d'une tentative de prise de pouvoir?
