Abstract
Magnetic-monopole pair production rates are examined for both pointlike and composite ('t Hooft-Polyakov) monopoles. For composite monopoles we obtain updated estimates for the suppression factorF 2 which shows thatF 2≈10−30–10−150. Composite monopoles are therefore not likely to be produced in man-made accelerators. Alternate sources for composite monopoles are briefly discussed.
