Abstract

The ANSI Z136.6 (2000) standard [1] for the outdoor use of lasers is currently 5 years old and due for revision. During the past 2 years, the ANSI Z136 Standard Subcommittee 6 (SSC-6) has worked to update the information and add new information increasing the size of the document by about 30 pages. The new draft standard is currently being reviewed by the ANSI Z136 Editorial Committee and a voting draft is expected to be circulated to the ANSI Z136 Committee voting group before the beginning of this International Laser Safety Conference (ILSC 2005).
