Abstract

AbstractEfficient enhanced upconversion luminescence (UCL) in β‐NaYF4:20%Yb3+,2%Er3+ microcrystals has been synthesized via two‐step ion exchange reaction. The influence of NaF concentration in ion exchange step on the crystal structure and the UCL property are analyzed. High concentration of NaF in the ion exchange process can enhance the UCL efficiently. Time resolved spectra are utilized to investigate the UCL enhancement and relative intensity changing mechanism. Temperature dependent UCL spectra are utilized to understanding the influence of defects on relative intensity changing. It is found that ion exchange with high concentration of NaF will decrease the body defects, which contribute to the UCL enhancement and decrease of red to green emission intensity ratio.
