Abstract

The Targon /32 is a fault tolerant multi computer system. Its components are clusters which are connected via a fast system bus. The fault tolerance concept is based upon the synchronization between active primary and inactive backup processes. If a cluster with a primary process fails the backup process is activated on another cluster by the operating system. Application programs which are system V compatible can run in a fault tolerant way without any changes in their code. Various extensions of the original queue and count design have been made in order to achive Unix compatibility.
