Abstract

A dee with a useful aperature 49.5 in. in diameter by 1.29 in. high has been built. The external height is 2.00 in. The 0.35 inch thick top and bottom panels consist of 0.062 in. copper conductor which is cooled by water in 0.375 in. copper tubing, flattened to 0.25 in. The inside surface of the panel is 0.040 inch stainless steel—copper laminate. The panel assembly was brazed in a vacuum retort into a single piece. Atmospheric pressure was utilized to jig the parts during brazing. The entire exterior surface of the dee including the two flat panels) is water cooled copper sheet, which has been welded and brazed into a single surface. The interior structural frame is stainless steel.
