Abstract
This article aims to explore the intense circulation of crime fiction (cinema co-productions, novels, photo-novels, and comics) between France and Italy from 1950 to 1970. By reexamining the underlying serial dynamics of the circulation of works—focusing on architextual series (genres, publishers series, or media formats) rather than individual works, and situating them within their industrial and media contexts—it becomes possible to highlight the cultural significance of these circulations. Analyzing the exchanges between various stakeholders (publishers, producers) reveals the pivotal role of industrial dynamics of serialization, the coherences produced by media series, and transmedia dynamics. What emerges from the interplay of collaborations, imports, and exchanges between the two countries is a transmedia popular culture on a European scale, characterized by shared imaginaries and aesthetics.
